The Happy Tails Story
Happy Tails started as a small grooming business in 2005. We have since grown to a thriving and busy grooming, overnight boarding and daily daycare facility. Our new facility was built in 2015 with social boarding in mind. Our indoor space is over 6,000 square feet. We have a modern air system that brings in fresh air all day and night as well as heat in the floor for a comfortable winter season in Iowa. Our dens are spacious and the dogs have access to Kurunda beds (raised, mesh beds) overnight. We are the only social boarding and daycare facility in Marshall County. We operate from 6:45 am to 6 pm during the week and we are open split shifts on weekends and holidays from 8:30-11:30 am and 4-7 pm. These hours allow the boarding and daycare dogs a lot of run and play time. With limited kennel time we send our clients home well exercised and happy to return.
We have three social playrooms that accommodate 15 dogs in each room loose and playing at a time. We have 6,000 square feet of fenced outdoor area. As weather allows, the dogs enjoy the fresh air and sunbathing. We have to areas in the building for dogs that are older or less social. These areas can get reserved quickly so plan ahead if you believe your dog may need a space away from our social setting. We also have a Cattery for any cat boarding needs.
We require up to date vaccines (Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella) for all of our services. This is a safeguard for your pet and their playmates. We also require all social clients use flea and tick preventative as well as be clear of internal parasites (worms).
Social boarding is not for every dog. A trial day is required before any stay longer than one night. The trial day is free to you and used to evaluate your pets’ behaviors and acclimated them to our environment so the boarding stay is a positive experience.
